Our history

Our company opened its doors in 1998 as NIKO Insurance Tanzania. In 2015, we rebranded to Sanlam General Insurance, enabling us to offer a wider and more innovative range of insurance products to cover different classes of risks for either personal or institutional clients, thanks to a group’s larger financial strength, technical expertise and brand equity. We rebranded to SanlamAllianz General Insurance Tanzania on 1 September 2025. Being part of the SanlamAllianz brand means that our clients benefit from the combined expertise and value creation of two major financial services groups, Sanlam and Allianz, which are known and recognised on an African and a global scale and carries more than 200 years of cumulative experience in Africa and beyond.??
