Our history

Established in 2005 as African Life Assurance (Tanzania) Limited, our company was the first specialist life insurer and the only company with a pure life licence in Tanzania. In August 2015, we rebranded to Sanlam Life Insurance Tanzania and have grown to become one of the country’s leading life insurers. We rebranded to SanlamAllianz Life Insurance Tanzania on 1 September 2025. Being part of the SanlamAllianz brand means that our clients benefit from the combined expertise and value creation of two major financial services groups, Sanlam and Allianz, which are known and recognised on an African and a global scale and carries more than 200 years of cumulative experience in Africa and beyond.
