What is Faana Maisha Plan ?

The product is sold through Vodacom Tanzania Limited (Vodacom) and will be a risk product providing financial protection to a policyholder or beneficiaries of policyholder upon materialization of risk events.

The financial protection is offered against the following risk events:

  • Death
  • Accidental Disability

A life covered under this product will be a Vodacom subscriber who has purchased the product. The product is on a voluntary/opt-in basis

Policy Term

Minimum policy term and maximum policy term – the term of cover is 1 month, that is, the policy is monthly renewable. The cover will continue provided the policyholder renews the cover, until the policyholder reaches the cover cessation age of 70 years.

Premium paying period – premium will be payable throughout the term of the cover.

Cover start date – cover will start at the beginning of the following month. All premiums received during the current month will be accumulated and used to purchase a cover that will start at the beginning of the following month. The cover level is expected to remain constant during a month under this approach.

Benefits Offered

Death/ Funeral benefit - This benefit pays a lump sum in the event that the policyholder passes away. The benefit amount will be a multiple (of 1,500) of the premium paid by the policyholder – i.e. benefit bought = 1,500 times premium paid by policyholder.

The maximum cover (per insured life and across all policies held) allowed is Tsh 15M

Accidental disability benefit – This benefit pays a lump sum if the policyholder becomes permanently or temporarily disabled as a result of an accident, and for the specified claim events mentioned below.

  • Accidental Permanent disability - Loss of any of vision, speech, hearing, leg(s), arm(s), hand(s), foot/feet, toe(s), finger(s), phalanx/phalanges as a result of an accident.
  • Accidental Temporary disability - Sustaining a fracture on any of collar bone, spinal cord, skull, hip bone, pelvic, thigh, leg, arm, neck, jawbone as a result of an accident.
  • The benefit amount payable and the maximum cover under the accidental impairment benefit is same as the one on death benefit
